19. – 22.09.2013 The last 72 hours before the election

One of our biggest challenges this year, the live coverage of the last 72 hours before the general election 2013, seen from the SPD perspective.

We stationed a central control room at Willy Brandt House, while four other teams streamed the final rally from Berlin with Peer Steinbrück, the citizens call from Sigmar Gabriel from Dortmund, at the same time, Peer Steinbrueck’s speech from Kassel and the next day from Frankfurt. Furthermore, with Andrea Nahles live on the telephone, Skype video reporting of door-to-door campaigners. In total there were eight iReporter out and about, sending interviews via Skype with members of the party leadership, as well as with people on the street and at rallies.

All brought together at our control room in Berlin, with interviews from the Willy Brandt House Studio, along with other broadcast formats such as

  • The 72-hour game: Deselect the Government!
  • Curry 36 citizens – Just after 1
  • Kampa News
  • “The SPD Song” – songs were uploaded on to Youtube with subsequent judging of the top three candidates’ Spots
  • The Black-Yellow Blog TV

72 hours non stop streaming on the SPD’s home page.

We are pleased to have been able to meet this challenge to everyone’s satisfaction.
