The annual concert of the Staatskapelle Berlin at Bebelplatz has evolved into a real crowd puller: Since 2007, tens of thousands of enthusiastic visitors have experienced, year after year, the “Staatsoper für alle” (The State Opera for everyman), a successful format in co-operation with BMW Berlin.
This year, Daniel Barenboim and his orchestra will delight the Berliners and visitors to the city alike, with the music of Wagner, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven.
To start off, the State Opera Chorus and the Staatskapelle perform the famous ‘Entry of the Guests’ from Tannhäuser, followed on by with Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, performed by Lisa Batiashvili, one of the most technically and artistically demanding works of the 19th century, whereas with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 , one of the icons of classical music, the grand finale of the open-air concert.
