The Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation Human Rights Award 2011 went to the late Khaled Said (Egypt) and Slim Amamou (Tunisia) in a ceremony held on 19 September 2011 in Berlin (Streaming provided by talk42 Software). The laudation was held by Dr. Joachim Gauck. Khaled Said’s sister accepted this posthumous award on behalf of her brother, as well as joining in the panel discussion.

During the event, two sections of the former Berlin Wall which once stood between the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz were embellished with a portrait of Khaled Said.
